ACCOKEEK, MARYLAND – In a sudden death duel against Norway’s Tore Brovold, Vincent Hancock captured the Gold medal for the U.S.A. in Men’s Skeet. This is only the second Gold medal in Olympic history for the U.S.A. in Men’s Skeet.

Hancock, 19 years old and a member of the United States Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU), shot 121/125 possible targets, setting the new Olympic record and giving him the lead going into the finals. During the early stages of the final, it appeared Hancock was unbeatable. A dropped target quickly opened the door for Brovold of Norway, who ended-up tied for the lead with Hancock, requiring a shoot-out to determine a winner. In the shoot-out, each shooter was required to fire at a pair of targets. Neither missed the initial pair of birds. But on the second pair, only Hancock broke both targets, giving him the gold medal.

Hancock’s gun of choice since he was 14 years old has been the Beretta DT10 Trident Skeet, which Hancock shoots with no modifications. Hancock has used his Beretta DT10 Trident Skeet to win numerous world and national titles, as well as setting the current Men’s Skeet World Record with a perfect 150/150 while shooting at the World Cup earlier this year in Lanato, Italy.

“Since the day I took the gun out of the box five years ago,” says Hancock, “it’s been my gun of choice. So long as I don’t get in it’s way, the gun will win. It truly feels like a natural extension of my body.”
