(GunReports.com) — New Jersey resident Matt Emmons finished third in the men’s 50-meter 3-position-rifle event earlier this week.
Emmons took home gold in 50m rifle prone position at the 2004 Athens Games and took home silver in the prone event at the 2008 Beijing Games.
Emmons, who blew late leads in his past two Olympics, entered the final round in second after posting an impressive 1172 in qualifiers. But, South Korea’s Jonghyun Kim posted a final round score of 101.5 to Emmons’ 99.3 to overtake the New Jersey native after Emmons posted a 7.6 on his final shot.
Emmons narrowly won the bronze by holding off France’s Cyril Graff by three-tenths of a point. Italy’s Niccolo Campriani set a final Olympic record of 1278.5 points to win gold.
Earlier in the London Games, Emmons’ finished 35th in the Men’s 10-Meter Air Rifle competition.
