Lucid Optics M7

Lucid Optics is a relatively new company and is perhaps not as widely known as others we have examined. Founded in 2009, they describe themselves as “On Target and Under Budget.”

Masterpiece Arms DS9 Commander 9mm Luger

Our DS9 came with a 4.25-inch bull barrel, made of 416R stainless steel. It was hand-fitted into a slide machined from a steel billet and then hand-lapped to the frame.

Nighthawk Custom Tactical Ready Series 9mm Luger

Our TRS pistol arrived in a well-padded, fully functional pistol case festooned with the Nighthawk Custom logo. The insert was custom fitted for our pistol.

Christensen Arms Modern Precision Pistol 6.5 Creedmoor

Christensen Arms is not exactly a stranger to the pages of Gun Tests. We’ve reviewed the company’s Ridgeline in 6.5 PRC (October 2020) and the Modern Precision Rifle chambered in 6 Creedmoor in March of 2021.

Savage 110 Pistol Chassis System 57797 6.5 Creedmoor

The Savage Model 110 was first patented almost 60 years ago, and the Savage 110 Pistol is not the first Savage firearm to be mated to a Modular Driven Technology (MDT) chassis.

Mossberg MC2c 89031 9mm Luger

The Mossberg MC2c starts off with a slide just over 0.9 inch wide by our measurement. It has a flat top and beveled upper edges. The nose has been rounded for easy insertion into a holster.

Rossi Rimfire Rifle RS22L1811-TH 22 LR

A couple of years ago, it wasn’t unusual to see the RS22 for sale for $110, and we think the record for low price was $99. With supply coming back, we think you will be able to find this rifle for $139 or so, as one of our raters recently did.

Winchester Wildcat 521100102 22 LR

We waited more than a year and a half to obtain the Wildcat, despite its introduction in 2019. They were scarce. An interesting feature is that the rifle uses a striker-fired ignition.

Ruger 10/22 Carbine 1151 22 LR

The Ruger 10/22 is among the most popular rifles of all time. It has been in use for nearly 60 years. The simple blowback-operated rifle was a fresh and innovative design in 1964 and remains a valid choice for sporting use.

Savage Stance 67001 9mm Luger

This test group lives near the Texas Gulf Coast, where most of the year, describing the temperature as hot and humid is a ludicrous understatement.

SAR USA SAR9 Compact X 9mm Luger

This SAR9cx reminds us of a Glock 19. Arguably one of the most successful mid-size pistols, the G19 is worthy competition, and we think SAR USA engineers did their homework well. Length of the 9cx is almost exactly as long as the G19, as is the height.

SCCY DVG-1 9mm Luger

Beyond this model’s optics cut and striker mechanism mentioned above, SCCY has made a number of other changes as well. The steel slide now sports curved grasping grooves at the front and the rear.

Weirdness in the Ammo Market

As the holidays arrive and we all think about buying presents for our loved ones, I wonder if we’ll have any money left over...
