U.N. and global gun banners began their most recent attack on Second Amendment freedoms by including civilian arms in the proposed Arms Trade Treaty, which was called for in a resolution adopted by the U.N. General Assembly in 2009. A conference began this week in New York City to draft the treaty's language. The conference will run through July 27.

(GunReports.com) The ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee wants to know who at the Justice Department saw a memo from an ATF agent in Phoenix outlining questionable tactics in the Fast and Furious operation that was sent to Washington a day before the department denied any weapons had been “walked” to Mexico.

In a July 5 letter to Florida-based NRA members and friends, Marion P. Hammer, NRA Past President and current Unified Sportsmen of Florida Executive Director, wrote:

Oral arguments occurred July 10 in the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in the case of Jennings v. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. In that case, the National Rifle Association is appealing a decision by a federal court in Texas which held that the Second Amendment doesn’t protect the right of young adults to buy firearms from federally licensed dealers.

NRA-ILA reports that federal officials in Arizona announced that they were seeking four more suspects in the fatal shooting of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, and that the FBI was offering a $1 million reward to track down the fugitives, believed to be in Mexico.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress on Thursday for his role in suppressing and withholding Fast & Furious documents from congressional investigators. The bi-partisan vote marks the first time in history that the U.S. Congress has held an attorney general in contempt.

The Second Amendment Foundation today filed a federal lawsuit against Alameda County, California and the county's Board of Supervisors for violating the constitutional rights of three businessmen by wrongfully denying them permits to open a gun shop.
