(GunReports.com) — Smith & Wesson Corp. is shipping the new Bodyguard 38 and Bodyguard 380 First Edition firearm sets. The limited edition sets feature one Bodyguard pistol and one Bodyguard revolver with corresponding serial numbers and laser engraving.
The pistol and revolver are shipped with a wooden, glass topped, felt lined display case and commemorative coin. The glass is laser etched with the wording “Smith & Wesson Bodyguard First Edition, One of 2,000.” Collectors and shooting sports enthusiasts will also have a chance to bid on the first Bodyguard pistol (CBG 0001) and revolver (RBG 0001) set through a live auction on the Gunbroker.com website.
Proceeds from the auction will be donated to USA Shooting to help support USA Shooting Team athletes and programs.
“Since their introduction, the Bodyguards have provided consumers with a new standard when selecting a firearm for either personal protection or concealed carry applications,” said James Debney, President of Firearms Business for Smith & Wesson. “By offering enhanced features, quality components and an ergonomic design, consumers can now select the best option to match their personal protection needs. With the availability of the BODYGUARD First Edition sets, shooters everywhere can enjoy the ultimate self-defense package while at the same time owning a piece of Smith & Wesson’s newest legacy.”
Both the Bodyguard 380 pistol and 38 revolver are laser engraved with the wording “First Edition” across the firearm. On the semi-automatic pistol, the “First Edition” appears on the right side of the slide in white engraved lettering. On the revolver, the wording has been placed above the trigger guard on the left side of the frame. Each firearm will also be shipped with a soft carry case featuring the “First Edition” monogram. Only 2,000 of these sets will be available for purchase. Smith & Wesson will donate the proceeds of the auction to help support the USA Shooting Team as they prepare for the 2012 Olympics in London.
