Great Britain’s Richard Faulds beat U.S. shooter Anthony Matarese, Jr., and fellow Brit Ben Husthwaite to win the 30th World

F.I.T.A.S.C. (Federation Internationale de Tir aux Armes Sportives de Chasse) Sporting Championship September 22-29 in Limassol, Cyprus.

Faulds’ winning Senior score was 198/200, besting Matarese and Husthwaite by four birds. Faulds shot a Beretta DT10.

Matarese and Husthwaite ended regulation in a tie. This tie prompted a 25-Bird Parcour shoot-out in which Matarese bested Husthwaite by two targets.

In the Lady’s category, U.S. shooter and defending World F.I.T.A.S.C. champion Diane Sorantino won silver behind Great Britain’s Cheryl Hall, 176 to 175. France’s Francoise Rosier took third with a 169. Sorantino shot a Beretta Teknys Gold Sporting semiauto.

Brett Winstanley of Great Britain won the Junior class with a 187, followed by Davide Gasparini and Michael Spada of Italy, tied at 184. Joey Bolton was the high U.S. finisher at 5th with a 179.

In the Super Vet age group, U.S. shooters Joe Cantey III captured gold and Larry Farrow took the silver. Patrick Howe of Great IMGCAP(2)] Britain took third with a 164.

Brits John Bidwell, Johannes Dyson, and Steve Brightwell swept the Veteran competition with scores of 186 and a tie at 182. U.S. shooter Randy Travalia took ninth with a 173 in the Veteran event. 

In the Men’s National Senior Team category the United States team took the Gold with all four members using Beretta shotguns. The winning team was comprised of Will Fennell, Greg Wolf, Matarese, Jr., and Mike Haas.
