(GunReports.com) SIG SAUER announced its first official shooting team to compete in national competitions. Led by National Shooting Champion, and Team Captain Max Michel, Jr., Team SIG will serve as ambassadors to the shooting sports industry, while competing with SIG Sauer pistols and rifles.

Team Captain and Manager of Competitive Shooting Activities
Max Michel first gained prominence in the competitive shooting arena with five United States Practical Shooting Association® (USPSA) National Championships beginning in 2004 and three World Speed Shooting Championships in 2005, 2007 and 2009. Michel has completed nearly 30 USPSA Area Championships and, as a representative of the United States, Michel has competed in the last three International Practical Shooting Confederation® (IPSC) World Shoots, returning home with team gold medals. Michel was also a top recruit for the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) from 1999 to 2009 and has been an active Army shooter and trainer.
Matt Cheely
Matt Cheely has been competing for the past five years in USPSA National Championships and has garnered multiple Top 10 National finishes. Cheely has also won multiple major IPSC matches in Canada and three Division Grand Master (GM) in Production Limited and Limited 10. A born and raised native of Michigan, Cheely graduated from the Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelors degree in Product Design and Development. When not competing for Team SIG, Cheely works as a Diesel Engine Performance Engineer for Detroit Diesel.
Jason Koon
Jason Koon began his career in local events as a Junior Shooter in archery, where he quickly became one of the Top 5 ranked Junior Shooters in the USA. He continued archery as a factory sponsored archer until 1995. Beginning in Bullseye Pistol, it was clearly evident that the required skill sets were similar to archery and Koon was immediately competitive. He currently competes in the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), IPSC and NRA Action Pistol. Koon holds Master Level rankings or higher in these major pistol shooting sports. Koon serves as a Project Manager for one of the USAs largest underground pipeline contractors, where he is responsible for safety, quality, scope, budget and schedule.
Erik Lund
Erik Lund is ranked as a Grand Master by the USPSA and specializes in 3-Gun (Pistol, Shotgun and Rifle) style competitions. He has several State, Regional and National level 3-Gun titles to his credit. Lund has over 16 years Law Enforcement experience and over 14 years as a Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Use of Force Baton and Less Lethal Weapons Instructor. Lund started his Law Enforcement career as a Virginia State Trooper. He was assigned to Fairfax County, Virginia, for 8 ½ years before accepting a position as a Federal Agent. He is a graduate of the Virginia State Police Training Academy (Nationally Accredited) and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Lund is also a Senior Firearms Instructor for the United States Shooting Academy (USSA) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Rodney May
While working as a Nuclear Technician, Rodney May started his shooting career as a hobby. Impressed by his shooting skills, he was approached in 2003 by Mid-South Institute of Self-Defense Shooting to join their ranks. For the past seven years he has served as a Firearms Instructor, teaching Navy SEALS, Army Special Forces and various Federal Agencies. May specializes in 3-Gun style competitions and has recently won the Alabama Match Overall Limited and placed 2nd in Production at the USPSA Area 6 Championships. May is a Grand Master Production Shooter and is in the process of becoming a Grand Master Limited Shooter.
