Better Access at Gun-Tests.com

I got an interesting note from Gun Tests reader Bob Snyder on January 5. The header on the mail said, “Archives are GREAT!”

Then Bob went on to write, “Your new ‘Archives’ are great. Thank you for this wonderful addition. Would it be possible to index the Archives by make and model; to show the table of contents for each issue; or to provide the annual category, product name, and

page-by-page indices? This would make the Archives even better—and they are already great.”

What Bob stumbled onto is the largest reorganization and improvement of the Gun-Tests.com website we’ve ever done. The entire job is designed to make your online experience faster, broader, and deeper. Subscribers can take advantage of these upgrades:

Get access to our entire online library. Subscribers now have access to 10 years of tests in the Archives section that Bob found.

Organize guns in a virtual Gun Vault. Save your favorite gun reviews in your own Gun-Tests.com Gun Vault for your convenience. You get those reports at your fingertips, every day, all year long.

Compare guns online. We are building a select-and-compare tool that will allow you to implement searches of guns by keyword—such as caliber, manufacturer name, and model name—and get lists of guns that fulfill your search parameters. This tool is active now, and we’re continuing to add more guns every day, eventually putting more than 1,000 guns in the database.

Elsewhere, there are other things we’ve done to Gun-Tests.com that are less noticeable. We’ve cleaned up the red left-navigation bars to make the links clearer, improved the site’s underlying search capability, and categorized elements in Tools and Techniques so they’re better organized.

To check out this valuable online information, get a copy of your magazine with your mailing label, log on to Gun-Tests.com, click the Get Web Access Now tab, and follow the easy sign-up directions.

GunReports.com is Coming

The company which publishes Gun Tests, AG Media Inc., is launching a free online site called GunReports.com. Gun Tests Publisher Timothy H. Cole has explained that GunReports.com will offer a range of gun topics not limited to gun evaluations.

GunReports.com, which is online now, will offer a gun-selector tool similar to what we’ll have available on the Gun Tests site, a blog for gun topics, a free weekly e-letter, and gun news broken into several categories.

Those areas of coverage will include Gun Rights, Industry Notes, New Products, Competition News, and People. There are also plans for Special Reports, and members of GunReports.com will be able to log on and contribute opinion and views in the blog areas.

Look forward to seeing you there! GT
